Introduction to the Theater of the Oppressed

A video (in two parts) in which Julian Boal (son of Augusto Boal) explains how Theater of the Oppressed works and the different contexts in which it can be used.

Created by Brazilian visionary Augusto Boal, the Theater of the Oppressed (TO) is a form of community-based popular education that uses theater as a tool of transformation. Originally developed from Boal's work with peasant and working populations, it is now used around the world for social and political activism, conflict resolution, community building, therapy and government legislation. It stimulates critical observation and representation of reality, visualizing the production of consciousness and concrete actions.
