Guide: How to do forum theater

This guide shares the necessary tools to carry out this form of theater, including materials and step-by-step instructions.

In forum theater as a form of participation, a problem that affects a community is presented. This problem takes the form of a script, and then a play performed by a group of actors. Spectators become spect-actors: The audience can stop the scene and step in for one of the characters, to show a different way of acting to address the problem. In this way, the audience and actors work together. Forum theater is a great tool for developing empathy, critical thinking and conflict resolution within the group.
