How to Engage People with Disabilities in Participatory Budgeting
/A four-page, user-friendly guide that provides recommendations to engage disabled people in your PB process.
At its best, participatory budgeting (PB) is a transformative way to more equally distribute power and resources. PB enables community members to decide how to allocate public funds, and to ensure that funds go where they are needed most.
But PB without inclusion can exacerbate inequalities. Without inclusion, community members who are isolated, marginalized, or excluded are less likely to participate and funds are less likely to address their needs. This info sheet provides information about barriers to participation that people with disabilities face and presents the best practices to engage people with disabilities in your PB process.
The info sheet is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian, and Chinese.
