Guide to citizen participation in urban projects in Spain

A guide for the use of different citizen participation mechanisms for urban planning and urban projects in the legal and social context of Spain, and specifically in the Valencian Community.

Democratic urbanism must be the basis for the creation of cities. New cities in which the gender perspective becomes a reality through procedures in which all citizens participate: young and old, men and women, children and the elderly, citizens with reduced mobility and citizens with full mobility. All of them have the right to have a say in what type of city they want to live in. This will only be possible with local government procedures that help to form a plural and constructive urban public opinion.

For this purpose, this serves as a basic resource to help city councils begin the participatory process, effectively informing citizens about it through a public presentation event, in which they can resolve possible doubts. It's also important to maintain public information channels for the duration of the process, using language accessible to all audiences.
