Citizens together for the climate: Austria Climate Council

Document detailing the Austria Climate Council, a citizens' climate assembly of 84 randomly selected citizens. It was established following a 2020 climate referendum signed by nearly 400,000 Austrians.

Randomly selected citizens from all regions and parts of society formed the Climate Council. As a kind of "mini-Austria," they developed measures to actively shape the country's climate future. Over six weekends, the members of the Climate Council developed answers to several central questions: How do we want to move? Where do we get our energy from? How do we have to feed ourselves to protect the planet? The citizens were supported by scientists from various disciplines who brought in the current state of research.
