Meet People Powered’s New Board of Directors Members

We are delighted to welcome four new members to People Powered’s Board of Directors! These global leaders will contribute expertise in communications, international development, research, law, business development, and democratic innovation to our organization and community. They will help grow our organization, guide our strategic decisions, and support work in new places, issue areas, and democratic practices.

Carole Excell

World Resources Institute | Rockville, United States

Carole Excell is the Director of the Environmental Democracy Practice at the World Resources Institute. As an environmental lawyer, she works with civil society organizations, activists and governments in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean promoting environmental democracy and environmental justice.


Czarina Medina-Guce

Ateneo de Manila University | Marikina City, Philippines

Czarina is a sociologist and international development consultant specializing in participatory governance, democratic innovations, local governance, and impact assessments. She has implemented and evaluated participatory governance reforms in the Philippines since 2011 at both national and local levels.


Louise Caldwell

Trinity College Dublin and Member of the 2016-2018 Irish Citizens Assembly | Navan, Ireland

Louise is a communications and business development professional who also served as a member of the Irish Citizens’ Assembly from 2016 to 2018. Since her involvement in the Irish Citizens’ Assembly, Louise has become an advocate for participatory and deliberative processes as a mechanism for empowerment and social justice.


Nicolás Díaz Cruz

Extituto de Política Abierta | Bogotá, Colombia

Nicolás is the Executive Director of Extituto de Política Abierta in Colombia, and co-founder of Demolab and of the Nosotras Ahora Network. Nicolás has been a lecturer, researcher, and practitioner for more than 12 years in the areas of participation, civic inclusion, and democracy.
