Luiza Jardim, Community Building Fellow at People Powered

São Paulo, Brazil

Luiza supports People Powered’s capacity-building and community-building programs. She provides coordination support for capacity-building programs on inclusion, whilst coordinating and engaging the PP member community, fostering their participation in People Powered's capacity-building programs and organizational decision-making.

Luiza was born and grew up in São Paulo (Brazil), one of the largest — and most unequal — cities in the world. She is a PhD candidate in Public Management and Government at Fundação Getulio Vargas, where she is studying digital democracy. Luiza earned a master’s degree in political science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. During her studies, she focused on the use of “e-participation” tactics in Brazil to respond to the pandemic. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in public management (with a minor in international relations) from Fundação Getulio Vargas.

Previously, Luiza worked for a digital participation platform, for which she worked with local governments and international organizations, such as UN-Habitat and the World Bank, to implement online initiatives. She also has taught and coordinated courses for public servants, civil society organizations and undergraduate students. Most recently Luiza worked as a consultant for one of the presidential campaigns in Brazil, representing the candidate at public events

Aside from being passionate about democracy, participation and public policy, Luiza loves traveling and listening to people's stories.
