Jared Abbott

Jared is a postdoctoral fellow with the Center for Inter-American Policy and Research at Tulane University. He is currently working on a book that explores the causes and effects of large-scale participatory institutions in Latin America, with a focus on the interplay between participatory democracy and political parties.
Jared has conducted research on participatory institutions across Latin America, including Bolivia, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. He has published in political science and Latin American studies journals, including the Journal of Latin American Studies and Comparative Politics.
He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University.
