Manual for the implementation and improvement of participatory budgeting in Ukraine
/A manual for participatory budgeting in Ukraine, including theoretical foundations, past experiences in the country, and a step-by-step guide to each stage of the process.
The history of participatory budgeting (PB) in Ukraine began in 2015. This mechanism has become a kind of "good deal" between local authorities and the public, a new opportunity for dialogue. Project proposers, representatives of authorities, public organizations, and residents learn to interact and build new connections, and more and more initiatives are implemented to improve living space and solve other local problems. PB is increasingly seen as a platform for strengthening social cohesion, implementing the principles of inclusivity and accessibility in communities.
This manual presents the fundamentals of PB, explaining step-by-step the different stages and how to design and implement the process in Ukraine.
