New partnership to help communities manage fisheries and tackle the climate crisis
As a crisis brews in the world’s oceans and marine ecosystems deplete alarmingly, we are launching a new collaboration to put power in peoples’ hands and restore balance. The Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI), People Powered, and Participation Factory are piloting a solution in the Seychelles and Madagascar that seeks to strengthen the participation of local stakeholders in how marine fisheries are managed.
We funded 4 research projects on participatory democracy. The results are in!
With the growing movement for participatory democracy globally, the need for effective, context-specific solutions has never been more pressing. In 2021, our members voted to allocate $50,000 to fund participatory democracy research that directly responded to practitioners' needs. We funded four research projects, through an open call to our members, and we just released the final reports.
The findings provide insight on involving students in participatory budgeting, transitions to e-democracy, increasing the participation of internally displaced people, and more.
