The International Observatory on Participatory Democracy and IOPD-Africa are organizing a virtual seminar following the publication of the study “Contributions of Participatory Budgeting to Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation,” coordinated by Yves Cabannes (UCL / DPU) and co-published by several partners.
The report aims to describe and understand what is really happening on the ground and explore the extent to which participatory budgets (PBs) contribute to climate change adaptation and mitigation, how they do it, and current challenges faced by different actors.
It also raises questions about the future and calls for solidarity PBs for climate justice. The report concludes with the enormous potential of PB (still largely untapped) to help address the dramatic impacts of climate change on the lives of millions of women and men, in all latitudes.
The seminar will take place in French. Featured speakers include Yves Cabannes, the author of the study; Adrià Duarte, IOPD coordinator; Bachir Kanouté, IOPD-Africa coordinator; and several local officials.
