Book launch: Handbook of Citizens' Assemblies

Citizens’ assemblies are flourishing around the world because many stakeholders seek to reinvigorate democracy with citizen participation and deliberation. However, despite their potential, many questions remain open.

The increasing popularity these assemblies calls for a holistic reflection and evaluation of their current uses and future directions. The De Gruyter Handbook of Citizens’ Assemblies showcases the state of the art in their practice as well as the latest findings from research.

The handbook will be available open access online beginning the day of the webinar, June 6. Speaking at the launch event will be editors Min Reuchamps, Julien Vrydagh and Yanina Welp, as well as Nicole Curato, Baogang He and chair Franzi Maier.

This event is co-hosted by the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance at the University of Canberra, as well as the Democracy Research Unit at the University of Stuttgart.
