Ryan Goehrung, Learning and Evaluation Manager

Ryan is a researcher, writer, educator, and advocate for more inclusive and representative democracies. At People Powered, Ryan applies his PhD training to help understand, communicate, and grow the impact of our work, to accelerate transitions to participatory democracy around the world.

Born and raised in Montana, the rugged landscape of the Rocky Mountains helped Ryan develop an appreciation for both the outdoors and the importance of community. Inspired by his father’s career in local government public service, Ryan’s work and research have always revolved around building stronger, more inclusive, and resilient communities and finding data-driven solutions to improve the quality of democratic institutions.

Ryan earned his PhD in Political Science from the University of Washington and his MA in International Development from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, making pottery, and exploring the Pacific Northwest with his wife and their weird little dog.
