Book Launch: Relearning Democracy: Innovations to activate citizens from classroom to community

Despite being the world’s biggest-ever election year, rates of political disengagement have never been higher. Join us to launch two new books that explore how innovative approaches to participation and deliberation can help people become more active democratic citizens.

Hear from the authors of the two groundbreaking publications who are also our members: Educating for Democracy: The Case for School Participatory Budgeting (Multiple authors) and Activated Citizenship: The Transformative Power of Citizens' Assemblies (Marjan Ehsassi).

We will explore how participatory democracy practices, from school participatory budgeting to citizens' assemblies, can spark citizen engagement and be integrated throughout a person's life.

Let’s unlearn old ideas that hold us back, and relearn new approaches to democracy together.

The event will be interactive; you can share your questions and ideas with the speakers. We are also opening up breakout rooms at the end to allow you to engage in discussion with the speakers and other attendees.
