The 20th Conference of the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy will be held on the theme of "Participatory Democracy for Sustainable Development of Cities."
After the city of Matola (Mozambique) in 2016, the town of Cocody (Côte d'Ivoire) will host the second conference on the African continent, and the first of the decade of action to create safe, inclusive, sustainable and resilient cities and territories. This 20th Conference will be resolutely oriented towards finding the main levers for accelerating change around the theme.
The conference will cover themes including local economic development, environment and citizen participation, the right to the city, and governance and participatory democracy.
The conference will be held in person from October 20 to 22. Virtual sessions will take place from November 29 to December 2. Learn more about the virtual sessions.
