The City of Cotonou, in collaboration with the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy in Africa (IOPD Africa), invites you to the 5th International Forum on Participatory Democracy in Africa (FIDEPA05) from August 8-10, 2024, in Cotonou, Benin.

The forum will focus on "Citizenship and participatory democracy as a lever for recovery in a context of geopolitical and economic crises and transition." It aims to gather experts, local elected representatives, university researchers, civil society, citizens, and national and international delegates. The event will address three major themes:

• Human rights and citizenship as a response to economic and geopolitical crises

• Participatory democracy in establishing inclusive governance, and

• The challenges of participatory democracy in countries undergoing political transition.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions, share experiences, and develop innovative solutions to strengthen democratic practices across the continent. The forum promises to be a significant gathering for those committed to enhancing participatory democracy in Africa.
