Trust in our political and democratic systems is at an all-time low. Advances in public-participation methods and digital technology make it possible to introduce a new mode of governance. Initiatives such as citizens’ assemblies and participatory budgeting are bringing people together to make critical decisions and reshaping the relationship between government and society.
In this free, online event, Nesta’s Centre for Collective Intelligence Design team will bring together practitioners and experts to discuss the opportunities that democratic innovation and digital participation can create.
A panel will share a new strategic framework for advancing democratic innovation, insights into the challenges and opportunities, and practical ways cities can design and deliver these initiatives. You’ll also hear from on-the-ground practitioners in the cities of Gothenburg, Helsinki and Trondheim.
